Once upon a time, in a small village surrounded by hills and golden wheat fields, there lived a kind and gentle man. He lived in a cozy cottage with two wives, lots of children, and a loyal pet named Rubooga. Everyone in the village knew and loved him.
Rubooga was no ordinary dog. He was a large, shaggy creature with floppy ears and a tail that never seemed to stop wagging. From dawn till dusk, he would faithfully follow his master around, his loyal eyes sparkling with affection and devotion.
Now, the man cherished Rubooga more than anything else in the world. He would spend hours playing fetch with him in the fields, rubbing his belly by the crackling fire, and sharing his meals with him at the dinner table. Rubooga, in turn, repaid his master’s love with unwavering loyalty and boundless joy.
Every evening, when the man returned home from his toils in the fields, Rubooga would be the first to greet him, bounding out of the door with joyful yelps and eager licks. Together, they would stroll through the village, the man’s laughter mingling with Rubooga’s happy barks, spreading warmth and cheer wherever they went.
But alas, as fate would have it, one day the man received news of a distant journey he must undertake. With a heavy heart, he bid farewell to his wives, his children, and his beloved Rubooga, promising to return as soon as he could.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, but still, there was no sign of the man’s return. His wives and children grew weary with worry, their hearts heavy with longing for his comforting presence. And as the days stretched on, their hunger grew as fierce as their fear.
Now, in those days, meat was a rare luxury in the village, reserved only for special occasions and celebrations. But with the man gone and no end to his absence in sight, the cravings and hunger of his family could no longer be ignored.
And so, one fateful night, as hunger chewed their bellies and desperation clouded their judgment, one of the wives made a decision that would change their lives forever. With trembling hands and a heavy heart, she tiptoed into the yard where Rubooga lay sleeping and raised a trembling hand against him.
The deed was done in hushed silence, the echoes of her guilt mingling with the soft whimpers of Rubooga as he slipped away into the night. And when the man returned at last, weary from his travels and eager for the warmth of home, he found his faithful companion nowhere to be found.
Heart heavy with sorrow, the man turned to his wives, his eyes searching for answers that he feared to find. But though they met his stare with dejected eyes and trembling lips, not a word of the truth passed their lips.
Determined to uncover the mystery of Rubooga’s disappearance, the man came up with a plan both cunning and cruel. He ordered his wives to line up before him, each in turn, and jump across a pit filled with sharp spears hidden under a thin veil of earth.
And so, one by one, they sang the song of truth, their voices trembling with fear and guilt as they confessed their sins to the earth below. And when the second wife’s turn came at last, her tears fell like rain as she stumbled over the words, her voice choked with sorrow and regret.
But as she reached the edge of the pit and prepared to jump, her guilt betrayed her, and she stumbled and fell into the depths below, her cries swallowed by the darkness that awaited her.
And so, justice was served, and the truth was revealed at last. And as the man looked down into the pit where his second wife lay, her life blown out by her own lies, He felt a deep sadness come over him like a cold, heavy wave.
For though he had uncovered the truth of Rubooga’s fate, the pain of his loss remained, a silent pain that echoed in the empty spaces of his heart. And as he turned away from the pit and the twisted wreckage of his once-happy home, he knew that things could never be the same again.
But though the man’s heart may have been heavy with sorrow, it was also filled with a quiet resolve. For he knew that though the road ahead may be long and winding, guided by the light of truth, he would find his way home once more. And with Rubooga’s memory as his faithful guide, he would never again lose his way.
